The Okidata B4400 printer isn't a true laser, but an LED printer. This means that it uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) instead of a laser to draw the image of each page on the drum during printing. But the two types of printers are otherwise essentially identical. That's why LED printers are usually grouped with lasers, and often referred to as lasers. To be more precise, LED printers fall into the laser printer category but don't use laser technology. The printer's text quality was a touch below par for a laser, but that's good enough for any typical business document. Only two of our test fonts were easily readable with well-formed characters at 4 points, but all except one passed that threshold at 6 points. None needed more than 10 points. Unless you use small fonts on a regular basis, you shouldn't have any complaints about the Okidata B4400's text quality.
